Leadership

Spoken Word Tabernacle is a body of Bible believers, that has constantly depended upon the Holy Spirit’s leadership since their formation in early 2020. We realize that He is the Comforter that Jesus promised to lead the church. We believe that the Holy Spirit must be alive in the church, always leading the church for the age that it’s living in, to confirm the Word that’s promised for that age. (Does God change His Mind? 65-0427).

We are witnesses that He gave some, apostles; some prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ. (Ephesians 4:16).

Pastor Stephen Shango Shembo

Brother Stephen Shango Shembo was born and raised in the Democratic Republic of Congo. He migrated to the United States of America to complete higher education. It was during these years that he married his wife Sharon, who is also from the DRC. The Lord has blessed their union with three children. Not long after he got married, Brother Stephen was called to serve as deacon at the assembly in Gastonia, North Carolina and subsequently was ordained to minister after the gift was displayed to be in him. He continued to serve faithfully, at the local church while completing studies in dentistry.

By the Grace of God, Brother Stephen was blessed with the opportunity to open his dental practice, Eagle Shembo Dentistry in Charlotte North Carolina. During the years, he has sincerely served God’s sheep and continues to do so.

In 2020, a new assembly, Spoken Word Tabernacle, was birthed in Gastonia, NC. This assembly stood and continues to stand for the Word of God that has been revealed and manifested to be God’s message to this last age, through His prophet Brother William Branham.

In June the same year, Brother Stephen was elected pastor of the new assembly. God has shown His hand in guiding the new church and we were able to purchase a church building after worshiping in a rented, hotel conference room for just over a year. As our new pastor, he continues to diligently follow the Lord God to lead the assembly into a deeper experience with Christ, through Scriptural teaching of the Word as revealed and restored through our prophet’s ministry.

But, you see, in the church there is the pastor, and that pastor is a special person. He’s built to where he can—he can put up with the fusses of the people. He—he—he’s a burden-bearer, he’s the ox of the team.
